Rolling Hills Zoo and Convention Center near Salina was the perfect backdrop for the Republican Party of Kansas State Committee Meeting.  The events began Friday evening with a reception for committee chairs and invited guests, including candidates for federal offices.  My good friend Emily Wellman introduced me to many party chairs and others in attendance.

Saturday morning was a “think tank” opportunity for state affairs and the formal state meeting took place in the afternoon. The candidates in attendance were invited to introduce themselves, and I appreciated the opportunity to address those gathered.

It was a cloudy day with a light rain falling most of the afternoon, but Carl took this opportunity to take both grandchildren through the museum and, later, when the rain subsided, the zoo.  The children enjoyed their time with Grandpa and I thoroughly enjoyed having my family with me. We rarely get to have both grandchildren at the same time since Jeremy’s family is located in southeast Kansas.  This was a great opportunity for all of us.
