Sprinkles and light rain came in the early morning hours again today; the weather appeared threatening, but by the time the Ellis Riverfest activities were to begin, the sun was shining and the clear skies canopied the festivities. Carl again rode the Trizzard and Stacy Lang and I walked the parade route, throwing candy to the children and waving to the spectators. Much conversation surrounds the recumbent tricycle and we have a lot of fun.
Following the parade, Carl and I meandered through the north park amid food vendors, a silent auction, children’s booths and games, fishing on Big Creek, and preparations for the canoe race. At noon we enjoyed dances and demonstrations presented by the Haskell Indian Nations University, in their beautiful dress and noble display.
We were re-united with many friends and acquaintances and made many new ones. It was a beautiful late spring day and a perfect opportunity to relish in the delights of western Kansas.
